ABOUT GENESIS

BUILDING A MORE SUSTAINABLE, EQUITABLE AND JUST SOCIETY.

ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Yvonne Williams-Castellanos is an Oakland and Berkeley native whose biggest passion is curating spaces where women of color feel safe, affirmed and motivated to actualize their dreams. At an early age, Yvonne’s interest in community development was birthed in the drumming classes at the Malonga Casquelourd Center, the “edutainment” media courses at Baycat, and in the staff meetings of It Takes A Village.

In these sacred community spaces, she witnessed her mother lead with intentional care and thoughtfulness with the goal of ensuring equity in healthcare, for clients and staff alike. Here, she also witnessed the power of community collaborations prosper, despite any odds.
